Woodworking Classes in Colorado Springs
INTERESTED IN WOODWORKING?
I TEACH CLASSES, LOADS OF THEM. FROM FUNDAMENTALS TO ADVANCED.
I TEACH CLASSES, LOADS OF THEM. FROM FUNDAMENTALS TO ADVANCED.
If you’re looking for short, intensive instruction over the course of 2-6 days, look no further than the Colorado Springs Woodcraft store.
I have developed several series of classes that delve deeply into the disciplined art of fine furniture building. Whether you’ve been in the shop for one day or 10 years, these classes are designed to give each student precise knowledge, confidence, and hands-on experience in the fine woodworking shop. My goal is to help you safely, creatively, and accurately build high-quality custom furniture.
Most classes are taught through projects, set to guide students through the process of building. Some classes require focused mastery in the skills themselves. Below is a sampling of both styles.

Fine Woodworking Series I-IV
Building fine furniture is at the core of this series of four classes. Students are not required to enroll in all four; however, each previous class is the prerequisite for the next one in the series.
The first class, Woodworking I, is designed to launch you into an entirely new way of woodworking. This is where we establish safe and correct procedures, break any bad habits, and shift your way of thinking about how to uniquely build high-end furniture. The first project, a trestle-style side table, is built and designed collaboratively in 3 days. Each student takes home their completed project. Students may then choose to follow up with progressively more advanced classes in the series — Woodworking II, III, and IV. Advanced classes range from 3 days to 5 days, each focusing on a different project that caters to the variety of skills and concepts required. Students are challenged to design uniquely and build accurately within the increasing complexity of each class. Students take home their completed projects and a growing library of advanced skills. |
Handtool Mastery Series I-III
If hand tools are your thing, this is the place for you. I teach 3 separate classes revolving around the care and use of hand tools. Starting with the very basics of sharpening, classes progress to lap joinery, mortise and tenon, and finally dovetails. Throughout the series, students get the opportunity to make a shooting board, a stool, and a tool tote. Each class is designed to focus on a specific skill set as applied to a real world shop project. These classes are taught at Woodcraft in Colorado Springs, Colorado and generally run for 2-6 days. The 2000 square foot shop is in a new location and has been outfitted with modern machinery and includes a huge array of woodworking hand tools. "Thank you again for another wonderful class. You have a talent for teaching, verbally and with the written word. You can break down complex topics and principles of woodworking so that the beginner understands. I appreciate your patience, your open-mindedness and the way you think outside the box. See you in Woodworking IV."
